Visitors from abroad who are planning travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program need to go through a specific procedure before traveling. It is no longer enough to fill out the form on the plane as you land in your US destination. You may not be allowed to board a flight if you cannot show that you have completed the necessary Visa Waiver procedure. The Visa Waiver Program is for residents of certain countries and it means you don’t need to apply for a visa to visit the United States for leisure travel.
Countries within the program include Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Ireland, Spain, United Kingdom, and Singapore. Eligible travelers need to apply for the correct authorization online and then pay the required fee. Complete the application form online, submit the application form, and then make a record of your application number. You then pay for your application and view the status of your application online. The system takes VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit cards.
In order to qualify for the Visa Waiver Program to enter the United States you should be planning to stay in America for 90 days or less. The program is only for business and leisure travelers and travelers in transit through the US. Make sure you have good quality visitor insurance in place before you travel. At the same time as you complete your waiver application, put your visitor travel insurance in place.
In order to travel on the program you need a valid passport. You do not necessarily have the right to travel on the waiver program – check the status of your application as you must be authorized to travel by the authorities. You also need to have an onward or return ticket and you should be prepared to tell the authorities where you will be staying in the US.
