Bringing the family to the US to visit is one of the most rewarding things you can do – especially if you have a new baby to introduce to your relatives in the United States. But before you travel with young children, prepare for a comfortable journey. Make sure you and the family are covered with visitor medical insurance – enough health insurance to protect against any mishaps.
Keep young children hydrated during the flight with enough drinking water – ask the airline staff for more water or juice if you run out. Depending on your child’s age, have them suck a sweet or chew gum as the plane takes off and lands, or drink from a bottle. This helps equalize their ear pressure.
Try to stick to your bedtime routine on the plane – bring familiar toys, play music or tell a story to help children get to sleep. Try to create a safe and relaxed atmosphere.
Take a mini medical kit on board to help with kids’ ailments. Include antiseptic cream, nose drops, eye drops and tissues.
